Turkana
The Turkana people are an ethnic group primarily found in the northwestern region of Kenya. They are known for their pastoral lifestyle, relying on livestock such as cattle, goats, and camels for their livelihood. The Turkana region is characterized by arid and semi-arid landscapes, making water and grazing land crucial for survival.
The Turkana Basin is also significant for its archaeological findings, including some of the oldest hominid fossils. This area has contributed greatly to the understanding of human evolution, with discoveries like Turkana Boy, a nearly complete skeleton of a young hominin, providing insights into early human life.
