Lake Turkana
Lake Turkana is a large, saline lake located in the northern part of Kenya. It is often referred to as the "Jade Sea" due to its striking turquoise color. The lake is the largest permanent desert lake in the world and is fed primarily by the Omo River, which flows from Ethiopia.
The lake is home to diverse wildlife, including various fish species and migratory birds. It plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem and supports the livelihoods of nearby communities through fishing and pastoralism. Lake Turkana is also recognized for its archaeological significance, with fossils that provide insights into human evolution.
