Tulou
Tulou are traditional communal dwellings found in the Fujian province of China. These unique structures are typically round or square and made from rammed earth, providing both strength and insulation. They were built by the Hakka people as a means of defense against bandits and to foster community living.
Each Tulou can house multiple families, with living spaces arranged around a central courtyard. The architecture reflects a blend of functionality and cultural significance, showcasing the social structure and lifestyle of the Hakka community. Many Tulou are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their historical and architectural value.
