Tsar Boris Godunov
Tsar Boris Godunov was a Russian ruler who reigned from 1598 to 1605. He became the first non-Rurikid tsar after the death of Tsar Feodor I, the last of the Rurik dynasty. Godunov was initially a powerful noble and served as regent before being elected tsar. His reign was marked by famine and social unrest, which led to challenges to his authority.
Despite his efforts to stabilize the country, Godunov faced opposition from various factions, including the False Dmitriy, who claimed to be the son of Tsar Ivan IV. His rule ended when he died in 1605, leading to a period of chaos known as the Time of Troubles.
