Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline
The Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is a major natural gas pipeline that runs through Turkey. It is designed to transport natural gas from the Shah Deniz gas field in Azerbaijan to Europe, enhancing energy security and diversifying supply sources for the region. The pipeline spans approximately 1,850 kilometers and connects with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) in Greece.
TANAP was inaugurated in 2018 and is a key component of the Southern Gas Corridor, which aims to reduce dependence on Russian gas. The project is a collaboration between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), BP, and other stakeholders, promoting regional cooperation in energy supply.
