Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline (BTC) is a major oil pipeline that transports crude oil from the Caspian Sea region in Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean Sea port of Ceyhan in Turkey. Completed in 2005, it spans approximately 1,768 kilometers and passes through Georgia, enhancing energy security and diversifying oil supply routes for Europe and beyond.
The BTC pipeline is significant for reducing dependence on oil supplies from the Middle East and promoting economic development in the regions it traverses. It plays a crucial role in connecting the Caspian oil fields to international markets, facilitating trade and investment in the energy sector.
