Tonsillitis
Tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, which are two lymph nodes located at the back of the throat. This condition is often caused by viral or bacterial infections, leading to symptoms such as a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and swollen tonsils. In some cases, fever and bad breath may also occur.
Treatment for tonsillitis depends on the cause. If it is viral, rest and hydration are usually recommended. For bacterial tonsillitis, particularly when caused by streptococcus, antibiotics may be prescribed. In recurrent cases, a doctor might suggest a tonsillectomy, which is the surgical removal of the tonsils.
