Thyrohyoid
The thyrohyoid is a small muscle located in the neck, specifically between the thyroid cartilage and the hyoid bone. It plays a crucial role in the movement of the larynx and helps in swallowing by assisting in the elevation of the larynx during this process.
This muscle is innervated by the hypoglossal nerve and is considered part of the infrahyoid muscle group. The thyrohyoid works in coordination with other muscles, such as the sternohyoid and omohyoid, to stabilize and move the hyoid bone and larynx, contributing to vocalization and airway protection.
