Temazcal
A Temazcal is a traditional steam bath used by various Indigenous cultures in the Americas, particularly among the Aztecs and Maya. It is typically constructed from stone or adobe and shaped like a dome. The process involves heating volcanic stones in a fire and then placing them inside the structure, where water infused with herbs is poured over them to create steam.
The Temazcal ceremony is often led by a guide or shaman, who may incorporate rituals, prayers, and songs. Participants enter the steam bath to promote physical and spiritual cleansing, relaxation, and healing, making it a significant cultural practice for many communities.
