Taste and Smell
Taste and smell are two of the five senses that help us perceive the world around us. Taste is detected by taste buds on the tongue, which identify five basic flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. These flavors combine with other sensory information to create the overall experience of eating and drinking.
Smell, or olfaction, occurs when odor molecules enter the nose and stimulate receptors. This sense is closely linked to taste, as both work together to enhance flavor perception. Together, taste and smell play a crucial role in our enjoyment of food and can influence our appetite and preferences.
