Tapir
The tapir is a large, herbivorous mammal native to the jungles and forests of Central and South America, as well as parts of Southeast Asia. They have a distinctive appearance, characterized by a stout body, short legs, and a long, flexible snout that resembles a pig's nose. Tapirs are excellent swimmers and often seek refuge in water to escape predators.
There are four species of tapirs, including the Brazilian tapir and the Malayan tapir. They primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and aquatic plants, playing a crucial role in their ecosystems by helping to disperse seeds. Tapirs are generally solitary animals and are most active during the early morning and late evening.
