Malayan tapir
The Malayan tapir is a large herbivorous mammal native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive appearance, characterized by its black and white coloration, with a white patch around its snout and a large, barrel-shaped body. Adult tapirs can weigh between 500 to 800 pounds and are known for their short legs and long, flexible snouts, which they use to grasp leaves and fruits.
These animals are primarily nocturnal and are excellent swimmers, often found in rivers and swamps. The Malayan tapir plays a crucial role in its ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds through its diet. Unfortunately, it is currently listed as endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.
