Perissodactyls
Perissodactyls are a group of mammals characterized by an odd number of toes on their feet. This group includes animals like horses, zebras, and rhinoceroses. They belong to the order Perissodactyla, which means "odd-toed ungulates." These animals primarily graze on grasses and other vegetation, making them herbivores.
The most notable feature of perissodactyls is their unique foot structure, which typically has one or three toes. This adaptation helps them run efficiently on land. While they were once more diverse, today, only a few families remain, including the Equidae (horses) and Rhinocerotidae (rhinoceroses).
