Talaiots
Talaiots are ancient stone structures found primarily on the island of Menorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain. These megalithic constructions date back to the prehistoric period, specifically the Talaiotic culture, which thrived between 1000 BCE and 300 BCE. Talaiots typically feature a circular or square base and are made from large limestone blocks, often serving as watchtowers or communal spaces.
The purpose of Talaiots remains a subject of research, but they are believed to have played a role in the social and defensive aspects of the communities that built them. Many Talaiots are found near other archaeological sites, such as Navetes and Taulas, indicating their significance in the ancient landscape of the island.
