Swiss Political System
The Swiss political system is a unique form of direct democracy, where citizens have a significant role in decision-making. The country is governed by a federal structure, consisting of 26 cantons, each with its own constitution and government. The Federal Assembly serves as the national legislature, composed of two chambers: the National Council and the Council of States.
The Federal Council acts as the executive branch, consisting of seven members who rotate the presidency annually. Citizens can influence laws through referendums and initiatives, allowing them to propose changes or reject legislation. This system promotes active participation and consensus-building among the population.
