Sweet Bay
Sweet Bay, also known as Laurus nobilis, is an evergreen tree or shrub native to the Mediterranean region. It is characterized by its aromatic leaves, which are commonly used as a culinary herb in cooking. The leaves are often dried and used to flavor soups, stews, and sauces.
In addition to its culinary uses, Sweet Bay has historical significance and is associated with victory and honor in ancient cultures. The leaves were used to create laurel wreaths, which were awarded to victors in athletic competitions and military commanders. Today, Sweet Bay is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens.
