Swamp Hen
The Swamp Hen, also known as the Purple Swamphen, is a large, colorful bird found in wetlands across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. It has a distinctive blue and green plumage, a red frontal shield, and long, slender legs. Swamp Hens are known for their loud calls and are often seen foraging for food in marshy areas, where they primarily eat plants, seeds, and small invertebrates.
These birds are strong swimmers and can often be spotted wading through shallow waters. Swamp Hens build their nests in dense vegetation, laying several eggs that both parents help to incubate. Their adaptability to various wetland habitats makes them a common sight in many regions.
