Superficial Fibular Nerve
The Superficial Fibular Nerve is a branch of the common fibular nerve, which originates from the sciatic nerve. It primarily provides sensory innervation to the skin on the dorsum of the foot and the lower leg. Additionally, it supplies motor function to the lateral compartment of the leg, which includes muscles responsible for foot eversion.
Injury to the superficial fibular nerve can lead to symptoms such as numbness or tingling in the affected areas. It may also result in weakness in eversion, making it difficult to stabilize the foot during walking or running. Understanding this nerve's function is important in diagnosing lower limb conditions.
