Common Fibular Nerve
The Common Fibular Nerve is a major nerve in the leg that branches from the Sciatic Nerve. It runs along the outer side of the knee and splits into two main branches: the Superficial Fibular Nerve and the Deep Fibular Nerve. This nerve is responsible for controlling muscles that help with foot movement and sensation in the lower leg and foot.
Injury to the Common Fibular Nerve can lead to conditions such as foot drop, where a person has difficulty lifting the front part of the foot. This can affect walking and balance. Treatment may involve physical therapy or, in some cases, surgery to relieve pressure on the nerve.
