Sundsvall Fire
The Sundsvall Fire was a devastating urban fire that occurred on June 25, 1888, in the city of Sundsvall, Sweden. The fire started in a wooden building and quickly spread due to strong winds, destroying much of the city center. Approximately 8,000 people were left homeless, and around 2,000 buildings were consumed by the flames.
In response to the disaster, the city was rebuilt with stricter fire safety regulations, leading to the construction of more fire-resistant buildings. The event significantly shaped Sundsvall's urban development and is remembered as a pivotal moment in the city's history.
