Sumatran rhinoceros
The Sumatran rhinoceros is the smallest of all living rhinoceros species, typically weighing between 500 to 1,000 pounds. They have a distinctive appearance, characterized by their reddish-brown skin, which is covered in folds and patches of hair. These rhinos are primarily found in the dense forests of Sumatra and Borneo, where they inhabit hilly and mountainous regions.
Sumatran rhinos are solitary animals and are known for their elusive nature. They are herbivores, feeding on a variety of plants, including leaves, fruits, and shrubs. Unfortunately, they are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching, with only a few hundred individuals remaining in the wild. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect this unique species.
