Indian Rhinoceros
The Indian Rhinoceros, also known as the one-horned rhinoceros, is a large herbivorous mammal native to the Indian subcontinent. It is characterized by its thick, gray skin and a single horn on its snout, which can grow up to 25 inches long. This species primarily inhabits grasslands and forests, particularly in Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park in Assam, India.
Indian rhinos are known for their solitary behavior, although they may gather in small groups near water sources. They primarily feed on grasses, leaves, and fruits. Conservation efforts are crucial for their survival, as they are listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss and poaching for their horns.
