Sumatran Rhinoceros
The Sumatran rhinoceros is the smallest of all living rhinoceros species, typically weighing between 500 to 1,000 pounds. It has a distinctive appearance, characterized by its reddish-brown skin, which is covered in folds and patches of hair. This species is native to the dense forests of Sumatra and Borneo and is known for its solitary behavior.
Due to habitat loss and poaching, the Sumatran rhinoceros is critically endangered, with only a few hundred individuals remaining in the wild. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their habitats and increase their population through breeding programs in captivity, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia.
