Sultanate of Kedah
The Sultanate of Kedah is one of the oldest Malay states in Malaysia, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Located in the northwest region of Peninsular Malaysia, it is bordered by Thailand to the north and the Strait of Malacca to the west. The sultanate has played a significant role in regional trade and politics, often serving as a vital link between the Malay Archipelago and the Indian Ocean.
The current ruler, Sultan Sallehuddin Badlishah, is the 29th sultan of Kedah. The sultanate is known for its rich cultural heritage, including traditional arts, crafts, and festivals. Kedah's economy is primarily based on agriculture, particularly rice cultivation, and it is often referred to as the "Rice Bowl of Malaysia."
