Striped Hyena
The striped hyena is a medium-sized carnivorous mammal found primarily in parts of North Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent. It has a distinctive appearance, characterized by its striped fur, long legs, and a sloping back. Striped hyenas are primarily nocturnal and are known for their scavenging habits, often feeding on carrion, small mammals, and fruits.
These hyenas are social animals, typically living in small family groups. They communicate through a variety of vocalizations, including whoops and growls. Unlike their more famous relatives, the spotted hyena, striped hyenas are less aggressive and tend to avoid confrontations with larger predators.
