Brown Hyena
The Brown Hyena (Parahyaena brunnea) is a medium-sized carnivorous mammal native to southern Africa. It has a shaggy, brown coat with a distinctive mane and long, slender legs. Unlike other hyena species, the Brown Hyena is primarily nocturnal and is known for its scavenging habits, often feeding on carrion and small animals.
Brown Hyenas are social animals that live in small groups called clans, typically consisting of a few individuals. They communicate through a variety of vocalizations and scent markings. Their populations are currently threatened by habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict, making conservation efforts important for their survival.
