Strangulation
Strangulation is a form of asphyxia that occurs when pressure is applied to the neck, obstructing airflow and blood circulation. This can happen through various means, such as manual strangulation, where a person uses their hands, or ligature strangulation, which involves a cord or rope. Strangulation can lead to unconsciousness, brain damage, or even death if not interrupted quickly.
The effects of strangulation can be severe and may not always be immediately apparent. Victims may experience symptoms like difficulty breathing, swelling, or bruising around the neck. It is crucial to seek medical attention after any incident of strangulation, as internal injuries may require treatment even if external signs are minimal.
