Methods of Asphyxiation
Asphyxiation occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, leading to unconsciousness or death. Common methods include suffocation, where an airway is blocked, and drowning, where water prevents breathing. Other methods involve the use of toxic gases that displace oxygen in the air, making it impossible to breathe.
Another method is strangulation, which involves applying pressure to the neck, obstructing blood flow and airflow. Additionally, smothering can occur when an object covers the mouth and nose, restricting airflow. Each method can have severe consequences, highlighting the importance of understanding and preventing asphyxiation risks.
