Stefan Uroš III
Stefan Uroš III, also known as Stefan Uroš III Dečanski, was a Serbian king who ruled from 1321 to 1331. He was a member of the Nemanjić dynasty and is known for his efforts to strengthen the Serbian state during a time of internal strife and external threats. His reign is marked by the construction of significant religious buildings, including the Visoki Dečani Monastery, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Uroš III faced challenges from rival factions within his kingdom and external pressures from neighboring powers. His rule ended when he was overthrown by his son, Stefan Dušan, who later became one of the most prominent rulers in Serbian history. Uroš III's legacy is often viewed in the context of the political and cultural developments of medieval Serbia.
