Stages of Change
The "Stages of Change" model, developed by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente, outlines the process individuals go through when modifying behavior. It consists of five stages: Precontemplation, where a person is not yet considering change; Contemplation, where they recognize the need for change; Preparation, where they plan for change; Action, where they actively implement changes; and Maintenance, where they sustain the new behavior over time.
This model is widely used in various fields, including healthcare and psychology, to help individuals understand their readiness for change. By identifying which stage they are in, people can receive tailored support and strategies to facilitate their journey toward healthier behaviors.
