St. Stanislaus of Szczepanów
St. Stanislaus of Szczepanów was a Polish bishop and martyr born around 1030 in Szczepanów, Poland. He is best known for his strong opposition to the immoral behavior of King Bolesław II, which ultimately led to his martyrdom in 1079. Stanislaus was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1253, and he became the patron saint of Poland.
His feast day is celebrated on April 11, and he is often depicted in art holding a cross and a sword, symbolizing his faith and sacrifice. St. Stanislaus is also recognized for his role in promoting the Christian faith in Poland during a time of political turmoil.
