Sprain
A sprain is an injury that occurs when the ligaments, which are the tough bands of tissue connecting bones at a joint, are stretched or torn. This often happens during activities that involve sudden twists, falls, or impacts, commonly affecting areas like the ankle, knee, or wrist. Symptoms typically include pain, swelling, bruising, and limited mobility in the affected joint.
Treatment for a sprain usually involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation, often referred to as the RICE method. In more severe cases, medical attention may be required, and physical therapy might be recommended to restore strength and flexibility to the injured area.
