Special Protection Group
The Special Protection Group (SPG) is an elite security force in India responsible for the protection of the Prime Minister and their immediate family. Established in 1985, the SPG was formed in response to the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The unit is known for its rigorous training and high level of preparedness to handle various security threats.
The SPG operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is equipped with advanced technology and intelligence capabilities. Its personnel are selected from various branches of the Indian Armed Forces and are trained to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister during public appearances and official engagements.
