Soyuz 31
Soyuz 31 was a crewed spaceflight mission launched on August 6, 1978, as part of the Soyuz program. The mission carried two cosmonauts, Georgi Beregovoy and Sigmund Jähn, to the Salyut 7 space station. This mission marked the first time a German citizen traveled to space.
During their stay, the crew conducted scientific experiments and performed maintenance on the station. The mission lasted for nearly seven days, and upon returning to Earth, it successfully landed on August 13, 1978. Soyuz 31 contributed to international cooperation in space exploration, particularly between the Soviet Union and East Germany.
