Soyuz 30
Soyuz 30 was a crewed spaceflight mission launched on June 27, 1978, as part of the Soyuz program. The mission carried two cosmonauts, Viktor Gorbatko and Sigmund Jähn, to the Salyut 7 space station. This flight marked the first time a German citizen traveled to space.
During their mission, Gorbatko and Jähn spent nearly eight days in space, conducting scientific experiments and engaging in international cooperation. The successful return on July 5, 1978, highlighted the collaboration between the Soviet Union and East Germany in space exploration.
