Sonora Desert
The Sonora Desert is a vast arid region located in North America, primarily covering parts of Arizona and California in the United States, as well as Sonora in Mexico. It spans approximately 100,000 square miles, making it one of the largest deserts in North America. The desert is characterized by its unique landscape, which includes cacti, rocky terrain, and occasional sand dunes.
The climate of the Sonora Desert is hot and dry, with temperatures often exceeding 100°F in the summer. Rainfall is scarce, averaging around 3 to 15 inches per year, mostly occurring during the summer monsoon season. This desert is home to diverse wildlife, including species like the Gila monster and the Sonoran pronghorn.
