Sonoran pronghorn
The Sonoran pronghorn is a subspecies of pronghorn found primarily in the Sonoran Desert of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It is known for its incredible speed, capable of running up to 60 miles per hour. This animal has a slender body, long legs, and distinctive horns that can grow up to 15 inches in males.
These pronghorns are adapted to arid environments, feeding mainly on grasses, forbs, and shrubs. They are social animals, often seen in small groups, and are known for their unique behavior of "stotting," where they leap into the air to evade predators. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect their dwindling population.
