Solar and Heliospheric Observatory
The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) is a spacecraft launched in 1995 to study the Sun and its influence on the solar system. It is a joint project of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). SOHO continuously monitors solar activity, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections, providing valuable data for understanding the Sun's behavior.
SOHO orbits the Sun at the Lagrange Point 1 (L1), a stable position between the Earth and the Sun. Equipped with various scientific instruments, it captures images and measurements of the solar atmosphere, helping scientists predict space weather and its effects on Earth.
