Solanki Dynasty
The Solanki Dynasty was a prominent ruling family in western India, particularly in the region of Gujarat, during the 11th and 12th centuries. They are known for their contributions to architecture, including the famous Sun Temple at Modhera and the intricate carvings of the Rani ki Vav stepwell in Patan. The dynasty played a significant role in the political landscape of the time, often engaging in conflicts with neighboring kingdoms.
The Solankis were originally a branch of the Chalukya dynasty and established their rule after the decline of the Rashtrakuta Empire. Under their leadership, the region experienced economic prosperity and cultural development. The dynasty eventually weakened due to internal strife and external invasions, leading to its decline by the late 12th century.
