Chalukya
The Chalukya dynasty was a prominent Indian dynasty that ruled large parts of southern and central India between the 6th and 12th centuries. They are known for their significant contributions to art, architecture, and culture, particularly through the construction of temples and intricate sculptures. The dynasty is divided into three main periods: the Early Chalukyas, the Western Chalukyas, and the Later Chalukyas.
The Early Chalukyas established their capital at Badami, where they built remarkable rock-cut temples. The Western Chalukyas, based in Kalyani, continued this tradition, while the Later Chalukyas expanded their influence in the Deccan region. Their legacy is evident in the architectural styles that influenced later Indian temple designs.
