Sleeping Sickness
Sleeping Sickness, also known as African Trypanosomiasis, is a disease caused by parasites transmitted through the bite of infected tsetse flies. There are two forms of the disease: Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, which is more common and found in West and Central Africa, and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense, found in East Africa.
Symptoms include fever, headaches, joint pains, and itching. As the disease progresses, it can affect the central nervous system, leading to confusion, sleep disturbances, and eventually coma. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent severe complications and death.
