Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders
Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders refer to a group of conditions that affect normal breathing during sleep. The most common type is obstructive sleep apnea, where the airway becomes blocked, leading to pauses in breathing. This can result in fragmented sleep and reduced oxygen levels in the blood.
Other disorders include central sleep apnea, where the brain fails to send signals to the muscles that control breathing, and hypoventilation syndrome, characterized by inadequate ventilation. These conditions can lead to excessive daytime sleepiness, cardiovascular issues, and other health problems if left untreated.
