Silk Cotton Tree
The Silk Cotton Tree, scientifically known as *Ceiba pentandra*, is a large tropical tree native to Central and South America, as well as parts of Africa and Asia. It can grow up to 70 meters tall and is known for its distinctive, wide trunk and large, spiky seed pods. The tree produces beautiful white or pink flowers that attract various pollinators, including bees and bats.
The fibers from the seed pods are light and fluffy, often used in stuffing for pillows and cushions, making them a valuable resource. Additionally, the Silk Cotton Tree holds cultural significance in many regions, often associated with local myths and traditions, and is sometimes considered sacred in various indigenous cultures.
