Sikh Initiation
Sikh Initiation, known as Amrit Sanchar, is a significant ceremony in the Sikh faith where individuals formally become members of the Khalsa. During this event, participants drink sweetened water called Amrit, which is prepared by stirring water with a double-edged sword while reciting prayers. This symbolizes their commitment to the teachings of Guru Nanak and the Ten Sikh Gurus.
The initiation involves a series of vows, including the promise to uphold the Five Ks, which are articles of faith that every initiated Sikh must wear. This ceremony not only marks a spiritual rebirth but also emphasizes the values of equality, service, and devotion within the Sikh community.
