Amrit Sanchar
Amrit Sanchar is a significant ceremony in the Sikh faith, marking the initiation of individuals into the Khalsa, a community of committed Sikhs. During this ceremony, participants receive the Amrit, a sacred nectar prepared by mixing water and sugar, which is stirred with a double-edged sword while reciting prayers. This ritual symbolizes spiritual rebirth and commitment to the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.
The ceremony involves a series of steps, including the recitation of hymns and the sharing of the Amrit among the initiates. Those who undergo Amrit Sanchar are expected to adhere to the Five Ks, which are articles of faith that represent their dedication to the Sikh way of life.
