Shughni
Shughni is a language spoken primarily in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan and parts of Afghanistan. It belongs to the Eastern Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian languages and is part of the Pamiri language group. Shughni has several dialects and is used by the Shughni people, who have a rich cultural heritage.
The language is written in the Cyrillic script in Tajikistan, while in Afghanistan, it may use the Perso-Arabic script. Shughni is not widely spoken outside its native regions, making it a vital part of the local identity and culture. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote the language among younger generations.
