Shinran Shonin
Shinran Shonin was a Japanese Buddhist monk who lived from 1173 to 1262. He is best known as the founder of the Jodo Shinshu school of Pure Land Buddhism. Shinran emphasized the importance of faith in Amida Buddha and taught that salvation could be attained through sincere devotion rather than through strict religious practices.
Shinran's teachings focused on the concept of shinjin, or true entrusting, which encourages followers to rely on Amida's compassion. His writings, particularly the Kyogyoshinsho, have had a significant impact on Japanese Buddhism and continue to inspire millions of practitioners today.
