Jodo Shinshu
Jodo Shinshu is a branch of Pure Land Buddhism that emphasizes reliance on the compassion of Amitabha Buddha for salvation. Founded by Shinran Shonin in the 13th century, it teaches that individuals can attain enlightenment through faith and reciting the nembutsu, which is the phrase "Namu Amida Butsu," meaning "I take refuge in Amitabha Buddha."
This tradition values the idea that everyone, regardless of their past actions, can receive Amitabha's grace. Jodo Shinshu encourages followers to live a life of gratitude and compassion, fostering a sense of community and support among its practitioners.
