Sharifs
The term "Sharifs" refers to individuals who claim descent from the Prophet Muhammad through his daughter Fatimah and son-in-law Ali. This lineage is highly respected in Islamic culture, and Sharifs often hold significant social and religious status within their communities. They are commonly found in regions such as the Middle East and North Africa.
In some countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan, Sharifs have historically held political power or influence. The title can also be associated with specific roles, such as the Sharif of Mecca, who was responsible for the administration of the holy city of Mecca and its pilgrimage activities.
