Shaheed Udham Singh
Shaheed Udham Singh was an Indian revolutionary known for his role in the struggle against British colonial rule. Born on December 26, 1899, in Punjab, he became a prominent figure after avenging the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where British troops killed hundreds of unarmed Indian civilians. Singh believed in fighting for India's independence and took a stand against oppression.
In 1940, Singh assassinated Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, to protest the atrocities committed during the massacre. He was arrested, tried, and ultimately executed on March 31, 1940. Singh is remembered as a martyr and a symbol of resistance in India's fight for freedom.
